Project    Wajong Project

XX4Cs Foundation collaborates with young handicapped people to assist them in influencing government policies and employment practices aimed at handicapped youth. Wajong is the Dutch law regulating allowances for unemployed young handicapped people. Politicians are worried about the increase of young people applying for allowances and are proposing measures to curb the trend.

Five young handicapped youth from Amsterdam established the Working Group Wajongers Centraal to mobilize handicapped youth for a series of brainstorm sessions in the first half of 2009. The end result was a report presented to the Dutch parliament in September 2009. Download a copy here (Dutch language!). The report was well received and led the Minister of Social Affairs and Employment to contact the Working Group. In 2010 Wajongers Centraal further developed its website and initiated a bimonthly digital newsletter - please consult www.wajongerscentraal.nl . Mr. Dinand Brummelhuis is currently coordinating the development of projects, publicity and fundraising. He can be contacted through +31625508484 or info@wajongerscentraal.nl
